Matthias Jun Wilhelm, born in Braunschweig in 1986; lives and works in Leipzig, Germany. 2013–2015 Master’s student under Prof. Olav Christopher Jenssen, Braunschweig University of Art. 2007–2013 Diploma (with distinction), studied fine arts under Prof. Olav Christopher Jenssen and Prof. Friedemann von Stockhausen, Braunschweig University of Art, Germany. “For me, painting is a space where thoughts and gestures intersect, where traces of doubt and immediacy can remain visible. My working method has a rhythm, a kind of physical thinking. The image is shaped by the memory of this movement. Instead of relying on formal consistency, I trust in the feeling of presence. It is what holds things together. In this space, my themes arise from moments of personal resonance and visual sympathy.” (Matthias Jun Wilhelm, 2025)
