Markus Wüste

Biography

Markus Wüste, born in 1970, studied at the University of the Arts (UdK) in Berlin, where he had his first experience of sculpting in stone in the workshop of the stone sculptor Yoshimi Hashimoto. In 2001, he participated in an exchange program to attend the Athens Academy of Fine Arts and finished his studies at the UdK in Berlin with a Master’s degree under Prof. Rebecca Horn. In 2005, he was awarded the scholarship of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Berlin.

Markus Wüste has consistently focused on and experimented with working with stone, exploring movement, kinetics, process, and the representation of modern materials in conjunction with an expressive material realization. He has had several solo exhibitions in Germany, Italy and Spain.

He lives and works in Berlin.
